The students participate in many activities, in some cases for the whole Cheder and in others for specific age groups. Past activities include shofar making, visits to the local Jewish old age home and the Jewish Museum, an annual bowling party and chanukia and candle making. On the Sunday closest to Purim the children dress up and take mishlo’ach manot to members of the community and in the week before Pesach we hold a mock Seder.
Once a month we hold a Cheder Breakfast for all age groups. We also organise popular Cheder Shabbatons in which the Cheder students lead the Shabbat morning service in the main Shul.
The Cheder year ends with a Prize Giving at which every child who has attended the Cheder is rewarded for all their hard work.
If you have children of nursery, primary or secondary school age up to the age of 16 please contact the Synagogue. We would be delighted to arrange a visit to the Cheder and a meeting with the relevant teacher(s). We look forward to seeing you and your children.
For more information, please contact the Rabbi or send an e-mail to the shul.
